The Town’s summer recreation activities are in full swing as children enjoy camp activities and residents of all ages enjoy the Outdoor Concerts in the Park held Monday evenings at Memorial Park. The park is transformed into a classic American summer Norman Rockwell tableau for the summer concerts. You are welcome to join your neighbors to listen to fun melodic bands.  You can bring a picnic or purchase BBQ food prepared by Gus.  It's a great place for younger kids to enjoy themselves. Thanks to our Sustainability Collaborative volunteers, each concert is a zero waste event to reduce our solid waste and encourage recycling.

Food Waste Recycling Program Coming this fall

The Larchmont-Mamaroneck Joint Sanitation Commission plans to move forward with a voluntary food waste composting program this fall. Residents will be able to bring all their food scraps to the Maxwell Avenue Recycling Center. The food scraps will then be picked up and transported to a composting site. The resulting compost will be available for residents to use in their gardens.  The $20 starter kit includes an odorless kitchen counter bin and a larger transporter bin with a roll of compostable bags.  It is a great way to reduce waste and greenhouse gases.

Annual Senior Citizen BBQ

The Town's Community Services Department hosted its annual Senior Citizen BBQ on July 18th. Town Administrator Steve Altieri was the head chef, assisted by Community Services Director, Anna Danoy and Recreation Superintendent, Jill Fisher. They cooked a feast in the hot sun for the seniors who enjoyed an abundance of BBQ foods and desserts. Town Board members and I assisted in serving the food.
