Supervisor's E-Newsletter, June 2017

Long-time Police Chief Richard Rivera retired this month. Chief Rivera was the Town of Mamaroneck Police Chief for 24 years and served on the Town’s Police force for 43 years. We thank him for his dedication to law enforcement, the department and the safety of Town residents. His calm management style and steady leadership was much appreciated.

Town Center Parking Lot Renovation Project Near Completion

Town Center Parking Lot, after construction
After (landscaping in progress)

The Town Center parking lot renovation consists of green infrastructure, including new pavement, sidewalks and curbs. The green infrastructure will treat and retain stormwater on the site to reduce runoff, thereby improving water quality in Mamaroneck Harbor. It includes parking spaces with porous pavement, a rain garden, permeable pavers and rain barrels to harvest the water. New signage, landscaping and plantings will be the final stage of the project.

Government Updates

The Fire District held a referendum on June 26th on whether to pay for turnout gear and the repair of the apparatus floor. The referendum passed which permits the Town to move forward with these projects.

The Town Board passed an amendment to the Discharge Compliance Law to eliminate the need to obtain a plumber to perform an inspection. The  Building Department staff will now perform the inspection of discharge compliance at the time of transfer, thereby saving residents an additional expense.
