The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize volunteers at a disaster site.
Join CERT if you want to:
- Serve an important role in your community
- Learn ways to keep your family and neighbors safe in a disaster
- Fortify your relationship with your community
CERT Training
CERT volunteers receive a free 18 - 20 hour training course. The course is taught by first responders (like police, firefighters, EMTs) and other disaster professionals. It covers topics standardized by the Department of Homeland Security, including:
- Fire Safety
- Light Search and Rescue
- Terrorism Awareness
- Disaster Medical Operations
- Mental Health Education
Remember, physical fitness is not a requirement - CERT has a role for everyone.
