Information for Rental Property Owners

 

The Housing Choice Voucher program provides financial assistance to eligible lower income individuals and families to enable them to live in decent, safe and sanitary housing within our community.  The Town of Mamaroneck voucher program relies on property owners with rental units anywhere in Westchester County to lease their available apartments to our voucher holders.  

Senior citizens, Veterans, people with disabilities, lower income individuals, and working families who receive voucher assistance generally pay approximately 30% of their gross income toward the rent and the voucher program covers the rest.

Each year in October, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) determines the average Fair Market Rent for Westchester County by individual zip code.  HUD permits the Town to authorize rents of up to 110% of the fair market rent for units, based on factors such as location, condition, amenities, etc., where applicable.
