Volunteer Firefighter & Ambulance Workers

The Town of Mamaroneck offers a partial exemption from Real Property Taxation for certain members of the Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department (TMFD) and the Volunteer Ambulance Corps of the Unincorporated Area of the Town of Mamaroneck and the Village of Larchmont, Inc (LVAC).


Volunteers must meet the following criteria to qualify:

  • Property must be your primary residence.
  • Volunteer service must be with the Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department (TMFD) or the Volunteer Ambulance Corps of the Unincorporated Area of the Town of Mamaroneck and the Village of Larchmont Inc. (LVAC)
  • Must be an enrolled member with at least 2 (two) years of service and no discipline imposed OR
  • Served as active member for 20 (twenty) or more years.

Proof of enrollment, certified by Fire Chief (TMFD) or Board of Directors (LVAC), stating volunteer is a member in good standing by the organization and the length of service must be provided annually. 20-year active members only need to submit proof with initial application. 

Note:  If you receive this exemption, you cannot claim a New York State income tax credit for the same volunteer service. However, if the property has multiple owners, the owner(s) whose volunteer service was not the basis of the exemption is eligible to claim that credit.
