This is the Tuesday March 6th recovery update on last week’s Nor’Easter. Con Ed crews were able to open streets and restore power to some residents yesterday. We now have only two streets closed and about 500 people without power. Con Ed is still predicting 90% power recovery to the entire region by 11:00 pm tonight. There will, however, be pockets that won’t be restored until Wednesday or Thursday. Our Con Ed liaison has been very attentive and helpful to the Town. Con Ed is aware of the closed roads and outages in the Town. There have been some coordination issues between Verizon and Con Edison in a few cases. Town officials and our Con Ed liaison are working to resolve the problem. We direct them to the priority areas each day. We heard this morning on the daily call with Con Ed that there are still critical facilities without power in other parts of the County.
Dry Ice is available at New Rochelle City Hall until 8:00pm. We will open the warming center again this evening from 5:00 to 10:00 pm at the Senior Center/VFW at 1288 Boston Post Road. Please remember to stay away from downed wires. They could still be electrified and dangerous. If you are using a gasoline powered generator, operate them in well ventilated areas and do not operate them indoors or in garages. We are reaching out to Verizon and Optimum for their assistance as well.
There will be additional information this evening about the upcoming snow storm and municipal services.
