There are some changes in Town services that will help you in your
recovery from the storm. First, the Town is extending its storm debris
cleanup from Saturday March 10 to Friday March 16. Also, this Saturday,
the Maxwell Avenue recycling facility will extend its hours of operation until
2:00pm. Please go to our website, www.townofmamaroneck.org or
lmsanitation.org for further details on these services. The Highway
Department has been the workhorse of much of the Town’s response to the storm
cleaning up debris, and then having to keep the streets clear of snow and ice
over the last twenty four hours. Many thanks also to our Police and Fire
Departments for their work on storm response as well.
We have made significant progress on the electric service
restoration front. At this time there are only 82 customers without
power, down from 2,400 a week ago. Our highest priorities right now are
restoration of electric service on Edgewood Avenue, Rock Ridge Road, Fenbrook
Drive, Winding Brook Drive and Maplewood Street. Working with our
Con Ed Liaison and participating in the daily Con Ed conference calls, we have
been pushing for more line crews to be brought into the Town for the
restoration effort. Today we did have one restoration crew in Town along
with two smaller emergency crews to address power outages in individual homes.
Unfortunately we do not have estimated times for final restoration. For
those of you without power I know this has been a tremendous hardship but
please make sure that you call Con Edison each day to report that you are still
without electric service. Finally a reminder to stay away from down
electric lines in the street and do not run generators indoors or garages.
Thank you.
