The Town of Mamaroneck has been informed that a developer plans to conduct a balloon test for a proposed telecommunications facility (cell tower) on the Bonnie Briar Country Club property. Testing is performed to assess the potential visual impact of the proposed facility by examining visibility of the balloon from multiple view points throughout the surrounding community.
The balloon test has been tentatively scheduled for April 4, 2020. Formal development applications have not yet been submitted to the Town for review. Construction will require prior approvals from the Town Planning Board and potentially Zoning Board of Appeals. The developer understands that any testing is being undertaken at their discretion and is subject to future comments or requests during public review by applicable Town of Mamaroneck Boards. Examination of visual impacts during winter/early spring (leaf-off) condition for trees provides the greatest ability to assess sight lines without screening from leaf cover.
Potential changes to scheduled testing will be provided as soon as the Town is notified.
