[ARCHIVED] Message from the Town Supervisor regarding Storm Damage, August 6, 2020

Town of Mamaroneck Update

August 6, 2020

Good afternoon, this is Nancy Seligson, Mamaroneck Town Supervisor with an update on Storm Isaias for Thursday, August 6th.

In today’s Con Ed municipal conference call, we learned that Con Ed expects the vast majority of customers to have power restored by Sunday, August 9th. There are two Con Ed cut and clear crews in the Town of Mamaroneck today working to remove downed wires. There are still 77,000 Con Ed customers without power throughout Westchester County. We just learned this afternoon that power restoration in the Town has begun and some customers have had power restored. Hopefully this is a good sign of things to come. Con Ed is expecting over 500 additional line personnel tomorrow to assist with electric restoration throughout the County.

There are several available services from the Town to help get through this difficult time.

The Town has opened a cooling center in the Community Room of the Hommocks Ice Rink and is open from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm weekdays. The Town Center is open for charging cell phones and computers from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. We were able to open Weaver Street, Fenimore Road and Forest Avenue.

Town Highway crews are working to pick up debris each day until evening. Private landscapers will not be allowed into Maxwell Avenue Recycling Center so please leave your debris at the curb for pick up. It would be helpful if you could cut it into 4-foot pieces if possible.

Dry Ice is now available at New Rochelle City Hall in the Hamilton Avenue parking lot. It is available until 9:00 pm this evening.

If you are using a generator for electricity, please make sure it is properly ventilated. Do not run generators in garages or other enclosed spaces.

Finally, if you have not signed up for emergency notifications, please go to the website to sign up or call the Town at 381-7810 to make an appointment for assistance to sign up.

Thank you and stay safe.
