[ARCHIVED] Message from the Town Administrator regarding Storm Damage, August 7, 2020

Good Afternoon, this is an update on Storm Isaias for Friday, August 7.
Each day the Town participates in the daily Con Edison municipal conference call. Listening to other municipal officials on this call, we have come to realize the enormity of this storm and the extensive damage it caused throughout the County. Today, Con Edison indicated that they continue to target Sunday August 9 for the restoration of electricity for most of Westchester County. There remain about 68,000 customers in Westchester County without electricity. This is down from 77,000 yesterday.
In the Town of Mamaroneck, we have made substantial progress in opening roads. Our Highway Department has been working with Con Edison crews to open roadways, particularly our primary roads. Con Edison will be adding 475 additional line personnel today to assist with the restoration of electricity.
Let me update you now on various services:
The Town Center at 740 West Boston Post Road will be open tomorrow, Saturday August 8 from 8:30am until 4:00pm as both a cooling center and a charging station for cell phones and computers. Those coming to the Town Center must wear a mask and practice social distancing
Town Highway crews will be working tomorrow picking up storm debris. Our collection will go faster and be more efficient if residents cut large branches to four feet lengths.
The Maxwell Avenue recycling center will have extended hours tomorrow and remain open until 1:00pm for residents of the Town and Village of Larchmont.
Until 9:00pm tonight Con Edison is distributing dry ice at the Hamilton Avenue parking lot of New Rochelle City Hall
If you have experienced food spoilage as a result of the loss of electricity Con Edison does have a program to reimburse residents for up to $540 for food spoilage. The details of the program and the application for reimbursement are on the Con Edison website.
Thank you and stay safe.
