[ARCHIVED] Message from the Town Supervisor Storm Update - August 10, 2020

Good evening, this is Nancy Seligson Town Supervisor with an update on Storm Isaias for Monday, August 10, 2020. We have seen a vast improvement in the number of homes that have had power restored. There were four restoration crews working in the Town of Mamaroneck today. According to Con Ed, approximately 95% of the Town will have power restored by 11pm tonight. The balance of the Town should have power restored by tomorrow evening at 11:00pm. Each day, we continue to lobby for the restoration of power for all of our residents.

The lack of internet and cable service has been a serious problem and added burden for all of us. Today, after many requests to the telecomm companies, we joined with other municipal officials in a conference call with representatives from Optimum/Altice to discuss the poor response on restoring cable tv and internet service in Westchester. It was quite apparent that they were woefully unprepared for this storm. They could not give exact numbers of outages and they do not have anywhere near the number of crews needed to complete the restoration necessary in Westchester County. Altice promised to provide municipal officials with updated information and better procedures for calling in service complaints tomorrow. They will also advise us of how residents can seek a credit for not having service during this past week. As soon as get the information, we will pass it along through our Facebook page and Website.

The Town will continue to have the Town Center open between 8:30am and 4:00pm as a charging station and cooling center until Friday, August 14th.

Stay safe. Thank you and goodbye.
