The Town is under a State of Emergency due to the severe weather we experienced last night. There are existing safety issues and more to be uncovered once the water fully recedes.
The Town received 8.5 inches of rain last night. 35.6% of residents are without electric power. Nine roads are closed and the Town Engineer and Highway Foreman are out assessing the damage. Roads are closed due to abandoned cars blocking roads, damaged road bed or flooding. Dedicated tow trucks are working in the Town.
Please allow our emergency personnel to continue to clear roads and address immediate public safety issues and do not try to drive through flooded roads. The roadway on Fenimore and Griffin has buckled and we are unsure of any further damage on the roads that are still under water.
Thursday Sanitation collection is underway, but delayed. Any homes that are not accessible today will be attempted tomorrow.
We are working with Con Ed, local contractors and Westchester County on recovery efforts.
