A local victory gardens project launched in 2020 has a new name and a new mandate: Victory Farms at the Grange aims to grow in number and grow more food for our neighbors.
Partners Lisa Chase, Lisa Samson and Lisa Moskow opened The Grange restaurant in Larchmont amidst the pandemic and escalating hunger and food insecurity. As restauranteurs who understand what it takes to feed people economically, logistically and ethically, these community members are committed to abating food insecurity.
In 2021, Victory Farms, operating out of The Grange, plans to collaborate and coordinate with local residents, schools and houses of worship who grow their own produce, to make donations to the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force for the benefit of its clients.
The VictoryArms, a youth brigade of able-bodied teens who helped restore the Sheldrake Nature Center garden beds in the summer of 2020, will be available through Victory Farms to work on 2021 garden projects that need some muscle. Anyone interested in participating this year can contact Lisa Chase at lizziechase@gmail.com.
