Supervisor's E-Newsletter March 2020
A Challenging Time
We are living in an extremely challenging and difficult time, not only in our own community, but around the region and the world. The pandemic caused by the spread of the new Coronavirus, also referred to as COVID-19, is having a significant impact on our lives.
Despite this, the Town of Mamaroneck government continues to operate by providing essential services, such as police, fire, ambulance and sanitation. The Building Department is continuing code enforcement and conducting exterior inspections. Other administrative departments are operating but on an abbreviated schedule.

Town Center Hours In an effort to comply with the Governor's Executive Order, the Town Center is open to the public by appointment only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. With the exception of the essential service departments mentioned above, we have reduced the staff by 50% on the days we are open. The sanitation employees are working on a staggered and modified schedule in an effort to implement social distancing. This is why trash now needs to be placed curbside and by 6:00am. In all Town offices and facilities, we have enhanced the cleaning protocols. I want to thank the Town and Sanitation Commission employees for their continued work during this difficult time.

Donation Box for MasksAs you know, there is a local shortage of personal protective equipment for health care workers, including both surgical and N95 masks. In an effort to help the medical professionals in Westchester County, we are asking for any resident who has unused masks that can be donated to please bring them to a collection box set up in the lobby of the Mamaroneck Town Center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Any size donation will be much appreciated.

Temporary Changes to Town Code
In an effort to help residents, most of whom are home all day with family and trying to work, home school children, or enjoy our neighborhoods, several local parking and quality of life laws have been suspended. The Town’s overnight parking prohibition and alternate side of the street parking laws have been suspended. Mechanical rock removal and the use of gasoline powered leaf blowers have been prohibited during this crisis time.

Town Meetings and Events
The State suspended the Open Meetings Law requirements for public meetings in order to allow us to continue functioning. Therefore, Town Board meetings will take place online via Zoom during this time. The meetings will be broadcast live on LMCTV (channel 76 for Optimum subscribers and channel 35 for Verizon/Fios subscribers) as well as through the www.lmctv.org website. An email address will be provided for residents to participate and submit their comments during public hearings. All other Town meetings have been cancelled through the end of April.
Numerous meetings and events have been delayed or postponed. The Comprehensive Plan Update has been postponed as the initial phase of the update is to engage the public in group meetings.

Playgrounds ClosedAlthough playgrounds are closed, the Town’s parks and trails remain open. It has been a pleasure to see so many people enjoying the outdoors with their families and friends. As you come in contact with others while outside or while shoppping, please remember to keep a distance of at least six feet. I’m thankful to all of those still going to work so that our supermarkets, healthcare factilities, gas stations and utility systems can function.

Getting a complete count of our community will ensure that we receive appropriate funding from federal and state government and that we have proper representation in Washington and Albany. Please call my office (914) 381-7805 if you need help completing the Census form.
