A Challenging Time Continues

The Coronavirus pandemic has been a challenging time, during these past two months, in our community and the world. We can take pride in knowing that through our efforts and those medical professionals fighting the pandemic, the Coronavirus curve in Westchester County is beginning to flatten. We are experiencing fewer new cases and hospitalizations. All of the efforts we’ve made - and must continue to make - including social distancing, wearing masks, working remotely, schooling from home and eliminating gatherings has had a positive impact on combatting the spread of the Coronavirus. Although it is frustrating to stay home and avoid social gatherings, there have been many individual actions and collective events from which we can take comfort and share a smile.

Food Pantry Distribution

The Larchmont - Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force ("The Food Pantry") held a large food distribution event at the Mamaroneck Avenue School on April 21st. The coordination amongst the school, Town and Villages and the many volunteers – all in very inclement weather- was extremely successful.  More than 600 bags of food were distributed to people in need.

Masks Galore!

County Executive George Latimer and County Legislator Catherine Parker delivered 3,500 masks to the Town. The County is the central distributor of personal protective equipment (PPE) to municipalities. The masks will be available to residents beginning Monday, May4th at the Town Center reception entrance. Residents will be able to pick up a maximum of one packet (five masks) per household.  We continue to participate in conference calls with the County Executive and his staff for updates on the Coronavirus. In addition, the County Executive and Board of Legislators worked with the Town Supervisors and Governor to offer two property tax relief options to residents for the property taxes that were due on April 30th.

Census -- Be Counted!

The Town's response rate to the U.S. 2020 Census, as of April 29th, has reached 62%, however, we still need every household to complete the Census! Our response numbers will determine the amount of federal and state aid the Town receives for the next 10 years, as well as our representation in the State Legislature and Congress. We are in competition with the Villages of Mamaroneck and Larchmont as to who can achieve the highest census response rate.  With your participation, I would like to avoid my being on the losing end of a bet and in a dunk tank. Please see http://www.my2020census.gov and take a moment to fill out the census forms because everyone counts.
