Survey is Out!The Town Wants to Hear from YouAs reported here for the past several months, the Town of Mamaroneck is in the process of updating the Town’s Comprehensive Plan. The updated Comprehensive Plan -- TOGETHER OUR MAMARONECK -- will describe a vision of the long-term future of our Town and will help guide future decision making on matters of importance to our community.
The Comprehensive Plan is based on input from our residents. During the last few months, the Town has held various public listening sessions to gather thoughts and suggestions from our residents for the Comprehensive Plan. We’d like to continue the engagement through an online survey for residents in the unincorporated area of the Town of Mamaroneck. The “Community Needs Survey” is an opportunity for additional community input, especially from community members who were not able to join the public listening sessions.
Please take a few minutes to complete the online survey and then help us get the word out by forwarding this information to friends, neighbors and organizations in the community. Community input and ideas are critical to the success of this effort. Click here and take the quick survey!

Updates Hommocks FieldsLast week, Councilman Jeffery L. King, Town Administrator Meredith Robson and I met again with representatives of "Fields for Kids." They, along with other residents have expressed their concerns about the availability of fields for youth sports. We discussed exploring possibilities for the Hommocks fields.
Tree LawIn response to concerns expressed by residents about maintaining and enhancing the tree canopy in the Town, the Town Board is exploring the possibility of modifying our exisiting Tree Law. Our Tree Law regulates the removal of trees on private property. One of the changes the Board is considering is making the Tree Law apply to all lots in the Town, which currently is not the case.

4th of July Blessing of the Fleet
Each year on Independence Day, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary’s Flotilla 75 hosts the "Blessing of the Fleet." The event is beloved by mariners and spectators alike. If you have never experienced the procession of decorated vessels in the harbor, put it on your calendar for next year! The Reverend Tami Burks of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and the Reverend Dr. Marvin Henk of St. John's Lutheran Church blessed each ship -- large and small -- as they sailed or motored past the reviewing stand. Joining me in my judging capacity were other officials. I want to thank our Coast Guard Auxiliary for hosting this annual event and for their dedication to recreational boating safety.

Town Summer Interns
This summer, two interns have joined us here at Town Center.
Sebastian Gold worked in the Supervisor's Office assisting the Town's Sustainability Collaborative. In this role, he researched the Town's environmental initiatives and programs to document the Town's prioritization to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This will help the Town to comply with the requirements of the NYS Climate Act to reduce GHG emissions 40% by 2030. Sebastian has communicated with Town staff, as well as offices within NY State regarding the Town's energy use data, recycling policies, and other environmental initiatives and upcoming events. Since Sebastian was an MHS freshman, he has volunteered for Town events including the Repair Cafe, Farmers Market Sustainability Table and Town Clean-ups . Now, a rising junior, we applaud Sebastian's continuing volunteerism and are happy that he'll continue to attend "Collaborative" meetings and events. Thank you Sebastian for all the work you have done!

Also joining us this summer is Luca Giobbio, a MHS rising senior. Luca is working in the Town Administrator's office on several projects. He is updating the Town's "Love Your Food" webpage and is brainstorming future program deliverables. Luca is also completing a website review from a resident’s point of view, letting us know what he was able to find, what he found difficult to find, what he could not find, and then, providing us with his suggested improvements. Luca has learned about a municipality's legal responsibility to retain records by familiarizing himself with the NYS records retention schedule. In an effort to support the Town’s mission to reduce paper documents, he is working on a process to archive documents, and he is summarizing the necessary steps to transition to an online system for specific employee onboarding documents. Finally, Luca is performing data entry and statistical analysis of the Town’s Traffic Committee agendas from 2017 to the present. This will provide a thorough understanding of the streets and topics that have come before the committee. Thank you, Luca, for these significant achievements!

Our Town Needs You!
Please consider volunteering for the Town. The Town is looking for qualified residents for the following: - Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department (TMFD)
- Coastal Zone Management Commission
- Traffic Committee
TMFD Needs You! Are you age 14 or older, and looking for a way to volunteer and give back to your community? The Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department may be the perfect answer! The TMFD is always looking for new volunteers. To learn more and potentially get involved, please call them at 914.834.2192 and press 3.
Coastal Zone Management Commission is comprised of eleven members, each serving a term of three years. It was established in 1986 to monitor and coordinate the implementation of the New York State approved Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan. The Commission weighs in on proposed development in the watershed area. Residents of the unincorporated area of the Town, and the Village of Larchmont who have a demonstrated knowledge in the areas of conservation, drainage and groundwater issues, or the effects of development on the environment are encouraged to apply. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of the month.
The Traffic Committee is comprised of seven members, each serving a term of three years. The Traffic Committee was established in 1983 to serve as an advisory group that reviews residents' concerns, requests, and suggestions for traffic safety improvements in the unincorporated area of the Town. Its role is to evaluate and recommend to the Town Board various approaches and proposed changes that could be utilized to create safer and more livable neighborhoods, as well as enhance traffic safety within the Town. It is helpful if applicants are familiar with the area, particularly as a pedestrian or biker. Agenda items are distributed prior to the meeting and members are asked to perform site visits to view the conditions related to the resident’s requests. The Committee meets as needed.
If you are interested in being considered for the Traffic Committee or the Coastal Zone Management Commission, please contact Supervisor Jaine Elkind Eney by email at supervisor@townofmamaroneckny.org with a letter of interest and a resume
