Comprehensive Plan Workshop -- Wednesday, November 30thThank you to all the residents who provided valuable input for the Town's Comprehensive Plan. The next step in the process is to attend one of our workshops on November 30th to review our analysis of your comments and ideas to see if we've got it right!
The reason why this is so very important is because the Comprehensive Plan describes a vision for the long-term future of our Town and will help guide future decision making. Over the past several months, the Town, with input from residents through public workshops and events, helped identify community needs and actions for the future of the Town of Mamaroneck.
Come join the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee in a new interactive workshop that will showcase the proposed goals, policies, and actions of the Comprehensive Plan. Five stations, each representing a different theme of the Comprehensive Plan, will be open for comments and input.
The Town will host two sessions on Wednesday, November 30th and asks for your attendance at one of the two sessions noted below.
• 12:30 – 2:00 pm Weaver Street Firehouse • 7:00 – 8:30 pm Town Center Courtroom
This is an important moment for our community, and we encourage and welcome you to be part of it. The Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, along with staff from Pace University's Land Use Law Center, will be on hand to facilitate the dialogue.

Westchester Power ProgramAs a reminder, this past August, Sustainable Westchester awarded a bid contract to Constellation New Energy as part of the Westchester Power Community Energy Program. As of November 1st, service through Westchester Power has resumed under this new contract. The Town of Mamaroneck is one of 29 Westchester County municipalities participating in this program. Residents who have not independently enrolled in an Energy Service Company (ESCO) are automatically enrolled in this program, however, you can opt out or in at any time. Residents participating in Sustainable Westchester should have received a notice in the mail indicating enrollment with “Constellation New Energy” as their new electricity supplier effective November 1st. This notice is in accordance with the resumption of service through Westchester Power. Residents’ energy bills will continue to come from Con Edison, which services the electricity transmission, and the source of the power is from Constellation New Energy, whose charges will be reflected on the Con Edison bill. For more information, please call Sustainable Westchester at 914-242-4725 Ext. 111, or email westchesterpower@sustainablewestchester.org.

LULAI am pleased to announce that the Town was one of four communities in Westchester County selected to participate in the Land Use Leadership Alliance (LULA) Training Program on Affordable Housing conducted by the Land Use Law Center of Pace University and the Housing Action Council.
The program, comprised of three full-day sessions, focused on affordable housing. Consultants met with the team from our community to discuss local and regional housing needs. They took our team from beginning conversations on local community housing policies to developing implementation plans. The curriculum included instruction on site plan analysis, zoning analysis, visioning sessions, feasibility of site design and financing and funding considerations. The program helped us create networks of support, identify successful community building and housing techniques, and develop short-term and long-term implementable housing strategies. We were grateful to have been invited to participate in such an informative and worthwhile program.

Veterans Day 2022Meredith Robson, Town Administrator, and I were honored to attend a Veterans Day commemoration at Mamaroneck High School presented by the MHS Social Studies Department and the Kemper Memorial Park Preservation Fund Board. On Veterans Day, Councilwoman Sabrina Fiddelman and I attended Veterans Day ceremonies in the Village of Mamaroneck at American Legion Post 90's Veterans' Memorial on Prospect Avenue and in the Village of Larchmont at American Legion Post 347 in Flint Park.
It is so important to take the time to honor the men and women of the military, past and present, who made and make immense sacrifices, and who put their lives at risk to defend and protect our country. If that isn't enough, after they complete their military service, many Veterans enrich our community through their service and participation in community activities.

Double Dose Thanksgiving for our Seniors!Earlier this month, on Veterans Day, the Senior Center hosted a Thanksgiving luncheon with turkey, stuffing, delicious side dishes and even apple pie. This was another popular event; more than 80 happy seniors enjoyed the festivities; including live music and dancing.
Many of our seniors attended a second Thanksgiving luncheon hosted by the Hommocks Middle School Student Council. The students welcomed the seniors and even had the elevators running to assist the seniors in getting upstairs to the library. The Student Council holds fundraisers throughout the year to pay for the event which includes lunch for the seniors at no charge. The students also perform, playing music and singing for the seniors. After the seniors have been served, the students eat and mingle with the seniors. It is a wonderful tradition, enjoyed by all!

Thanksgiving Dinner Served by theTMFDFor the Town of Mamaroneck Firefighters, it's not only about firefighting. Traditionally, they prepare meals for those in need in our community and this year was no exception. The TMFD prepared just under 100 Thanksgiving dinners in the newly-dedicated Frank J. Cioffi Culinary Center at the Firehouse and delivered them on Thanksgiving Day. I would like to give a special thank you to the TMFD, and to all those who worked over the holiday weekend.

Leave the Leaves! My office and the Town Administrator's office receive numerous calls from residents asking about leaf pickup as leaves virtually carpet lawns at this time of year. Residents in the unincorporated area of the Town will receive curbside leaf collection from the Highway Department through the duration of leaf season. Please remember, only leaves can be picked up; no other yard waste such as twigs, branches, plants, etc. will be picked up. Also, pumpkins must be brought to the Maxwell Avenue Recycling Center for disposal.
As an alternative, our environmental committee, the Sustainability Collaborative, recommends mulching the leaves rather than using a leaf blower to blow leaves to the curb for pickup. They tell us "leaving the leaves" creates a protective cover throughout the fall and winter for worms and microbes in the soil to break down the organic matter from the fallen leaves and return the nutrients to the ground for plant growth. Check out the "Larchmont-Mamaroneck Healthy Yards" webpage on our website for more information on healthy yard tips.

Our Town Needs You!
Please consider volunteering for the Town. The Town is looking for qualified residents for the following: - Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department (TMFD)
- Coastal Zone Management Commission
- Housing Authority
- Architectural Review Board (Alternate)
- Recreation Commission
TMFD Needs You! Are you age 14 or older, and looking for a way to volunteer and give back to your community? The Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department may be the perfect answer! The TMFD is always looking for new volunteers. To learn more about volunteering, please call them at 914.834.2192 and press 3.
Coastal Zone Management Commission is comprised of eleven members, each serving a term of three years. It was established in 1986 to monitor and coordinate the implementation of the New York State approved Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan. The Commission weighs in on proposed development in the watershed area. Residents of the unincorporated area of the Town, and the Village of Larchmont who have a demonstrated knowledge in the areas of conservation, drainage and groundwater issues, or the effects of development on the environment are encouraged to apply. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m.
Housing Authority is comprised of five members, each serving a term of five years. It was established in 1992 under the Public Housing Law of New York State to provide affordable housing within the Town. The Housing Authority works in conjunction with the property management company to oversee the operations of the Hommocks Park Apartments. An interest in affordable housing or experience in property management is preferred. Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
Board of Architectural Review is comprised of five members, each serving a term of three years. It was established in 1990 to review exterior plans or modifications to all structures except one-or two-family houses. All members of the Board of Architectural Review shall be specially qualified either by reason of training or experience in architecture, land development, city planning, real estate, landscape architecture, professional property values or other relevant business or profession or by reason of civic interest and sound judgment, to judge the effects of a proposed building or alteration or remodeling thereof upon the property values and development of surrounding areas. Meetings are held on the third Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. Recreation Commission The Recreation Commission was established in 1954 to review and recommend recreation programs, activities, and the development or expansion of facilities. The seven-member Recreation Commission is comprised of residents from the unincorporated area of the Town, the Village of Mamaroneck and the Village of Larchmont. To maintain the representative balance of the commission, at this time we are seeking members who reside in the Village of Larchmont. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month.
If you are interested in being considered for any of these boards or committees, please contact Supervisor Jaine Elkind Eney by email at supervisor@townofmamaroneckny.org with a letter of interest and a resume.
