Welcome Summer!

Thank you to the veterans of the American Legion Posts 90 and 347, VFW David Potts Jr. Post1156, and the Kemper Park Memorial Preservation Fund for organizing the wonderful community Memorial Day commemoration events. Also, thank you to the many residents who participated in the Memorial Day parade and especially the Grand Marshals, Lt. Doherty and Dennis Tortorella. Photos from the parade are below.

Compost Give-back Day

The Larchmont-Mamaroneck Sanitation Commission had a successful "Compost Give-back Day." Residents of the Village of Larchmont and Town of Mamaroneck were able to pick up nutrient rich compost from our food scraps recycling program for their use in gardens and on their lawns.

Congressional Visit

Congressman Eliot Engel held an informational event at the Mamaroneck Town Center. He spoke about his most recent trip to Latin America and immigration border issues. Many residents from the Town, as well as surrounding communities, attended the event.

Green Your Commute Challenge

The Town is participating in the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation’s (DEC) "Green Your Commute Challenge." Town employees are encouraged to use greener methods to get to and from work; such as walking, bicycling, carpooling or driving electric vehicles.  The program runs through August 31st. Each person enters their commuting method into a data base and the DEC tracks the money saved and the reduction of greenhouse gasses as a result of using alternatives to driving alone in a gasoline-powered vehicle. It's a "win win" for all who participate!

Grant Awarded!

The Town was pleased to have been selected for a NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) grant for over $125,000 under the Municipal Food Scraps Reduction Program. This intermunicipal grant involves the two villages and School District as well as the Town, and will fund educational programs to promote the reduction of wasted food in our community and schools. Thank you to volunteer Elana Mass who was the key author of the grant application.

The Town, working with OCRA teacher, Joe Liberti, held a mock Town Board meeting with Mamaroneck High School students who acted as Town Supervisor, Town Council members, Town Attorney, Town Administrator and members of the public. The students did an outstanding job acting out their roles as they discussed several issues that are currently before the real Town Board.
