Reduce Wasted Food

As mentioned in my June Supervisor E-Newsletter, the Town of Mamaroneck received a three-year grant from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to fund a public outreach and education campaign. The Town, along with the Villages of Larchmont and Mamaroneck and the Mamaroneck School District, will work together on this project over the next three years.  The goal is to inspire residents, including students, to take action to reduce the amount of wasted food, divert the excess to provide food for those in need and to compost whatever scraps are left. It will reduce your food costs, help slow down climate change and connect you to the community. Additional information will be provided in the fall newsletter.

Public Hearings

Two important Town Board public hearings that began on August 21st will continue on Wednesday, September 4th  at 8:00 pm in the Town Center Courtroom: the proposed legislation for a commuter parking law and reusable bag law. We appreciate residents who have already provided comments. The proposed legislation can be viewed in its entirety on the Town's website at www.townofmamaroneckny.org.  Residents are welcome to attend the Public Hearings.  However, if you are unable to do so, below are the ways in which you can provide your comments:

  • e-mail: supervisor@townofmamaroneckny.org
  • letter: Nancy Seligson, Supervisor, Town Center, 740 W. Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck, NY  10543
  • telephone: (914) 381.7805

Hurricane Season

September is hurricane season and we encourage residents to be prepared for possible storms.  Please sign up for emergency notifications from the Town by going to the Town website, and clicking the Emergency Swift 911 button on the front page. Also, the state's website, https://prepare.ny.govgives helpful storm preparation instructions.
