Two Town employees, Maria Gallagher and Kathy Flynn, were inducted into the Westchester County Senior Citizen Hall of Fame for their great work running the Town’s Senior Center. Maria Gallagher is an indefatigable leader of the Senior Center who brings joy and organization to all of the many senior programs from art to Zumba classes. Kathy Flynn is Maria’s tireless deputy who is always helping seniors and elevating the programs.

Several residents have expressed concern about wild animals roaming our area. We have reviewed this matter and the options available from NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Most animals are seen on private property.  If you would like to retain a trapper to address this matter on your property, there are several available on the NYS DEC website.  One of the issues with trapping however, is that a snare trap is used for many animals and there have been incidents of domestic dogs and cats getting caught in the traps.  For that reason the Town would not initiate a trapping program.  In terms of the Town’s response, should you encounter any animal that appears to be displaying peculiar behavior or is aggressive, contact the Police Department and they will respond to determine what action is necessary.  Some safety measures include:

  • Keep garbage in an enclosure or garage to keep all animals away
  • Supervise young children outside
  • Do not let pets outside alone
